You Really Don't Know Me
You know me as you created me.
Your doormat, enabler, slave and brunt of jokes.
No matter how many times I tried to please you, satisfaction escaped you.
I am of you but not about you.
You will never accept that or understand.
Time to live my own life even though that is long past due like some library book fine conveniently forgotten about until you have to write a check to cover it.
Sad to say, I have been lonely my entire life.
I am not alone; someone loves me and shares my days.
Would be friends tried but somehow I shuffled from a deck they no longer chose to play from.
Those that stuck by my side played and won.
You really don't know me.
Past time to make things better.
Age has taught me to move on gracefully despite the pain.
Words
Words open doors and get you on your way.
Words caress, embrace, erase and echo
yesterday as well as giving hope for today.
Words speak louder than action because they move hearts and minds.
Words more often than not leave futile things behind.
